Reaction Temperatures up to 250^oC

The Vapourtec R4 Reactor module can support 4 different temperature zones simultaneously.  Each of the 4 zones has always been capable of being set at anywhere from ambient to 150 ^oC.

Now, with the launch of the high temperature facility, two of those four zones can now be controlled at up to 250 ^oC.

Note

The standard tube reactors are not rated to these temperatures so Vapourtec have developed a higher temperature version, with stainless steel tubing and a suitably insulated housing.

If required, the 316 stainless tube reactor can be substituted for a Hastelloy reactor.    Please contact Vapourtec if this if of interest.

Safety

There are a few safety considerations when using these high temperatures.  Vapourtec take safety extremely seriously.

Firstly, reaction products  exiting the system at 250 ^oC can present a hazard so is recommended that

• another tube reactor at a lower temperature is used after the main reaction as a cooling stage before products leave the system.
• online quenching is used immediately after the main reaction (click here for details)

Secondly, to prevent hazards caused by leaks, should they occur,   Vapourtec can provide secondary sleeving that can be put over pipe joints and fittings to ensure that should a leak occur (or a fitting not be securely attached) any exiting fluid will not "jet".
